Digium Switchvox Family of Asterisk -based IP PBXs
Melbourne 11 December 2008 – Wavelink has announced the release of the Switchvox
appliance family from Digium, the Asterisk Company. The family of VoIP telephone
systems are flexible and easy-to-use, giving companies with up to 400 users a turnkey
business telephone solution based on Asterisk software . While the systems are open
platform and offer support for a wide range of SIP terminals, they will be packaged by
Wavelink with the Polycom range of SoundPoint SIP handsets.

Digium created and is the driving force behind the open source Asterisk telephony project
and Switchvox is the most widely used IP PBX based on Asterisk , providing users with the
ease of use and rich feature set of Asterisk, plus the reliability and convenience of
appliances. One of the benefits of Switchvox systems is their rapid setup, enabling systems
to be up and running supporting calls almost as soon as they come out of the box. Systems
can also be easily upgraded as customers need more features or add users. The result is
more options for customers that let them get rid of expensive phone systems, yet keep all
the functionality of a PBX designed for the largest businesses.

With Switchvox’s Switchboard interface, users can create their own custom screens on their
PC to control their phone extension, providing integration with applications such as CRM
packages and other websites such as Google maps. In this way, when individuals receive
calls, they can have useful information from internal company databases or external Web
applications automatically displayed, e.g., a real estate agent sees the properties his caller
has expressed interest in, a hiring manager sees the blogs and Facebook page his caller
has created and a doctor's receptionist sees insurance information for his caller all in real
time. It is these types of powerful features that drive the expansion of Switchvox's target
market, both up-market to larger businesses and down in to the smallest organizations, which
can truly benefit from this type of efficiency boost.

A Switchvox IP PBX for Every Company
Digium Switchvox appliances are now available on three systems that provide a fit for a wide
range of companies:

> The AA300 appliance, which features Switchvox SMB, supports up to 150 users
and is ideal for medium-sized businesses that want the power of a server -class PBX.
