From Brisbane to Brazil: Actor and Film Director Gerson Rocha Turns Career Challenges into New Soap Opera TAKE 02

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND — 14 October 2026 — Brisbane-based Brazilian-Australian actor and director Gerson Rocha is bringing his personal experiences of pursuing an international acting career to the screen in TAKE 02, a new Portuguese-language soap opera filmed in São Paulo, Brazil and preparing for release on YouTube through GSR Studios Official.

Originally from Salvador, Bahia, Rocha has faced challenges pursuing acting opportunities in his country of birth while living in Australia. The geographical distance has made securing Brazilian talent representation difficult, despite his ambition to work professionally in both countries.

Rather than waiting for traditional industry opportunities, Rocha has taken a proactive approach, developing and participating in independent screen productions whenever he returns to Brazil.

His latest project, TAKE 02, draws inspiration from that experience, exploring the challenges of returning home, rebuilding a career and finding a place between two countries.

A Fictional Story Inspired by Real-Life Challenges

TAKE 02 follows Lucas Coutinho, a Brazilian actor who returns to his homeland after eight years overseas, determined to revive his acting career.

His plans take an unexpected turn when he reconnects with Bia, a former romantic interest, while attempting to establish himself in Brazil's competitive entertainment industry.

As Lucas navigates auditions, professional rejection and uncertainty about his future, he begins questioning whether returning to Brazil was the right decision.

Just as he considers giving up and returning to Australia, an unexpected opportunity changes his professional prospects. His personal life, however, proves far more complicated than he anticipated.

The series combines romance, humour and the challenges of career reinvention, exploring themes of identity, belonging and second chances.

Rocha, who portrays Lucas Coutinho, says the central premise was inspired by his own experiences of pursuing acting opportunities in Brazil while building a life and creative career in Australia.

Although fictional, the production reflects the uncertainty and determination involved in pursuing an acting career across international borders.

Creating Opportunities Rather Than Waiting for Them

For Rocha, TAKE 02 represents more than another acting role.

Having encountered difficulties securing representation in Brazil because he resides overseas, he has focused on creating independent productions that allow him to demonstrate his acting abilities, develop professional relationships and collaborate with Brazilian creative talent.

His ambition is to bring established performers and emerging creatives together through projects that provide opportunities for artistic collaboration.

For TAKE 02, Rocha invited Brazilian performer Alicia X to join the production in the role of Bia.

He is also developing a future film project in Brazil and is currently in discussions with established professionals from the Brazilian cinema and television industry about potential involvement. Casting and scheduling arrangements for that production have not yet been finalised.

A Brazilian Production with International Ambitions

Filmed in Sorocaba, São Paulo, TAKE 02 features a Brazilian cast and creative team.

The production is directed by OACM Estudios and Igor Sales, with a screenplay by André Pires.

Rocha stars as Lucas Coutinho, alongside Alicia X as Bia.

The Portuguese-language series is being prepared for release through GSR Studios Official on YouTube, making it accessible to viewers in Brazil, Australia and internationally.

For Rocha, the project reflects his ongoing commitment to Brazilian storytelling while continuing to develop his career from Brisbane.

Continuing His Film Career in Brisbane

Alongside his work in Brazil, Rocha is finalising his independent film Collapse in Brisbane, with its official trailer planned for release in December 2026.

The project forms part of his broader ambition to establish a sustainable acting and filmmaking career across Australia and Brazil.

Through GSR Studios, Rocha intends to continue developing original screen productions, collaborating with creative professionals and pursuing opportunities in both countries.

His long-term goal is to build a body of screen work that demonstrates his versatility as an actor and filmmaker while helping create opportunities for other performers and production professionals.
