New Ridesharing App Launches in Perth to Help Locals Save on Fuel, Parking and Everyday Travel
Announcement posted by RideWest 24 Oct 2026
From FIFO workers heading to Perth Airport to university students and daily commuters, RideWest is designed to make travel more affordable by helping people share journeys they are already making.
Every day, thousands of cars travel across Perth with empty seats, while other residents pay for fuel, parking, taxis or alternative transport.
RideWest aims to change that.
How does RideWest work?
The idea is simple.
If you're already driving somewhere, you can offer available seats to people heading in the same direction and help offset your fuel costs.
If you need a ride, you can look for drivers travelling along a similar route and potentially save money compared with travelling alone.
Who can benefit?
FIFO workers: Share trips to Perth Airport and potentially avoid expensive long-term airport parking.
University students: Find affordable travel options to campus without needing to own a car.
Daily commuters: Share regular journeys to work and reduce travel expenses.
Airport travellers: Explore shared transport options instead of paying for a separate trip.
Everyday drivers: Make better use of empty seats and offset the cost of journeys already planned.
Saving money — and making better use of time
RideWest isn't about putting more cars on the road. It's about making better use of vehicles already travelling.
By connecting people heading in the same direction, the app offers an opportunity to reduce transport costs, avoid unnecessary parking expenses and make some journeys more convenient.
Actual savings and travel times depend on the journey, driver availability and route.
