Investment expert and founder of B.Invested with a personal portfolio of over 400 properties, Nathan Birch, says today's upcoming fifth rate hike for the year is another reminder that Australians need to take greater control of their financial future by building assets and embracing self-sufficiency.

Birch adds that while today's interest rate increase will place further pressure on households already grappling with cost-of-living challenges, there are ways to 'future-proof' yourself and your financial security.

He says that waiting for governments, banks or employers to provide financial security is no longer a viable strategy in an increasingly uncertain economic environment that is ultimately caused by global inflation and government overspending.

"Too many people are living week-to-week, completely exposed to decisions they can't control. The answer isn't panic, it's preparation. Building assets, creating additional income streams and becoming more self-sufficient are the foundations of true financial freedom."

Birch says financial resilience extends beyond property investing and includes practical measures that can reduce household expenses and increase independence.

"Growing your own food might seem old-fashioned, but it's one of the simplest ways people can regain some control over your life. Whether it's herbs on a balcony or a backyard vegetable garden, every step towards self-sufficiency helps reduce reliance on rising food costs and supply chain disruptions."

Birch believes that while economic cycles are inevitable, individuals who take proactive steps to strengthen their financial position are better placed to withstand future challenges.

To help Australians navigate today's economic landscape, B.Invested will host its upcoming Freedom Beyond Property event on 14 November from 10-4pm at Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley, Windsor, NSW.

The event brings together specialists from different fields for a full day of education, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Attendees will learn how to grow their own food, improve their wellbeing, build a more positive mindset and make informed property decisions.

"The goal is simple: to give everyday Australians the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their financial future," Birch said.

"Financial freedom isn't about getting lucky. It's about making informed decisions, taking consistent action and creating a life where you're not at the mercy of every rate rise and economic shock."
