Enterprise Applications Leader to Acquire Personalised Online Marketing Solution
PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq: PSFT) today announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the intellectual property and certain assets of Mountain View, Calif.-based Annuncio Software Inc. With this purchase, PeopleSoft continues to raise the bar in delivering industry-leading CRM functionality.
Annuncio's leading marketing automation solution for email and web customer interaction, combined with PeopleSoft's industry leading CRM solution, will enable companies to automate and personalise online customer business interactions within a single integrated CRM solution. This functionality will give PeopleSoft customers the ability to execute marketing campaigns utilising online dialogue and web site marketing to maintain real-time personalised conversations with customers.
The dialogue marketing capability being acquired by PeopleSoft automatically coordinates personalised interactions with customers through email, web links, banner ads and direct mail. Personalised landing pages and surveys on web sites, as well as targeted follow up offers, can be used to drive customer loyalty and maximise each customer interaction.
These web site marketing features enable companies to personalise products, services and content presented on their websites. Fitting seamlessly into existing web sites, web site marketing allows companies to easily tailor the content and offers presented to each visitor. Products and services can be merchandised utilising a customer's or prospect's personal profile to help drive incremental revenue.
Companies can realise dramatic increases in customer response rates when they combine personalised online communication channels including email and web links, with traditional marketing channels such as direct mail and
telemarketing. Increased response rates drive top line revenue and build customer loyalty. Online channel communications also enable companies to personalise an ongoing dialogue with their customers, significantly
reducing the cost of customer interactions. This real-time dialogue results in lucrative cross sell opportunities and incremental revenue.
"This acquisition demonstrates PeopleSoft's continued commitment to expand our industry-leading pure internet customer relationship management (CRM) solution," said PeopleSoft Senior Vice President and CRM General Manager
Stan Swete. "The expanded functionality will enable companies to build loyal customer relationships, increase revenue, and communicate more effectively through more interactive media-- where costs can be lower, more information can be conveyed, and more personalised offers and promotions can be delivered."
"PeopleSoft has made another smart acquisition in its drive to build its technology portfolio," said Joshua Greenbaum, principal, Enterprise Applications Consulting, Daly City, Calif. "Combining Annuncio's software with PeopleSoft CRM extends PeopleSoft's base of functionality and increases its competitiveness in the market."
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of Annuncio's stockholders. Stockholders of Annuncio holding sufficient shares to approve the acquisition have agreed to vote in favour of the acquisition. The acquisition is scheduled to close during the first quarter of 2002.
Annuncio was founded in 1997. It is a privately held company.
