Skilled workers – thinking of working in Australia?

Experienced tradespeople thinking of crossing the ditch are invited to attend information seminars to learn what qualifications are needed to work legally in Australia.

“Many New Zealanders arrive in Australia to practice their trade, and we’re urging those who are considering the move to obtain the necessary qualifications,” said Paul Lawrence, Master Builders.

“Master Builders is able to streamline the process for getting the right qualifications in the building industry,” Mr Lawrence said.

Legendary rugby league player and coach, Chris Anderson, will be taking part in the road-show to encourage people to get the right qualifications and information to work legally in Australia.

“I’m delighted to be part of this important initiative, which will assist people to obtain the necessary skills and information to be employable immediately in the Australian building construction industry. New Zealanders have proven to be essential in filling the current skill shortages,” Mr Anderson said.

“The Australian Government’s stimulus package, infrastructure works and initiatives aimed at helping first home buyers have meant that the Australian construction industry offers significant opportunities at present.

“The ongoing strength of the mining sector in places such as Western Australia and Queensland continue to support the economy, as does the resilient housing markets of Sydney and Melbourne,” said Grant Daly, Director, Skills Development & Research, Master Builders.

Master Builders is a registered training organisation specialising in assessing people against skills required to work in the building industry especially for licensing purposes. Those trades include Carpentry, Solid Plastering, Painting & decorating, Wall & Ceiling Lining, Waterproofing, Floor & Wall Tiling, Concreting and Roof Plumbing.
