Mid-Comp gunning for Innovation Shoot-Out in USA

Announcement posted by Mid-Comp International 03 Dec 2009

MELBOURNE, December 3.  Mid-Comp International has outgunned some 10 rivals to win the Victorian Government nomination for the G’day USA 2010 Innovation Shoot-Out, which showcases Australia’s world class innovation and investment potential to the United States.

Steve Bridges, Managing Director of Mid-Comp, will fly to San Francisco for the shoot-out, to be held on January 17-19.  Steve’s silver bullets will acclaim the qualities of his company’s Odyssey ERP for Distribution application suite.

He said: “Although it's still going to be a very tough nut to crack, we are delighted to have won the Victorian nomination against some very impressive competition. This prestigious international event is taken very seriously by all Australian State and Federal bodies.  We are being given every assistance by the Victorian Government to make the most of our opportunity.”

Finalists from each of Australia’s States and Territories will travel to San Francisco to prove that their cutting edge innovation can prosper in the USA. The objective is to create a platform on which Australian companies can pitch their businesses and showcase their stories to the greater venture capitalist and investor market in Silicon Valley.

Each finalist will have the opportunity to present their innovation and investment potential to US business and industry executives in a live ‘Shoot-Out’ competition. The judges will rate contestants on their innovative technology and their potential for success in the US market.

The winning company will receive a program of awards, professional development courses and strategic advice to help them bring their innovative product to commercialisation in the USA.

Some 10 companies were invited to apply for the opportunity to represent Victoria in the Shootout.  They were all technology applicants to the Victorian Government's  Access America service, which operates out of the Victorian Government Business Office in San Francisco.

The selection panel comprised both Melbourne and San Francisco-based representatives. Mid-Comp took the prize as it best addressed the selection criteria, which were based on the judging criteria for the 2010 Innovation shootout.

Steve Bridges said: “This will be the Innovation Shootout’s fourth year.  We know the Victorian Government is keen to see a Victorian company take first prize, which has eluded them so far, and we will be really gunning for it!”
