ANNUAL TELCO SURVEY NAMES GOTALK “BEST OF THE BEST” CHEAPEST VOIP PLAN:

goVoIP Aussie Pack Targets Families with Teenage Kids Who Love Talking.

The contentious battle to claim Australia’s cheapest and most economical VoIP service has been won – again – by expanding trans Tasman telco gotalk, beating other VoIP competitors including Engin in the annual “Best of the Best” awards conducted by the recognised independent telecommunications industry research organisation Phonechoice and published in the 2009/2010 December/January edition of Money Magazine.

In announcing that gotalk’s $14.95 a month goVoIP Aussie Pack was this year’s Gold Winner, Money magazine noted “ this plan is a regular in Money’s Best of the Best awards, coming second last year and first in 2007”.

gotalk CEO Steve Picton said it was gratifying to have his company’s best value VoIP plan recognised for what it was – Australia’s cheapest – “despite recent confusing claims by competitors.”

“Our goVoIP Aussie Pack gives you 600 untimed local and national calls a month and 100 calls to Australian mobiles or 500 Aussie mobile minutes each month. So customers can make up to 700 calls each month for just $14.95 per month when combined with a gotalk broadband plan or $19.95 if standalone.

gotalk was the first provider to allow customers to make calls to any local mobile number at no extra cost. The plan is month to month, so you don’t have to commit to months or years of payments,” Mr. Picton said. “We make it even more attractive for users to get started with VoIP, by offering a bonus month when users sign up online,” adds Picton.

VoIP technology in general and gotalk’s goVoIP Aussie plan in particular has a real advantage for heavy home phone users such as parents with teenagers who like to make lots of calls to their friends or those running a home business. Money  magazine in its “Best of the Best” issue, says that “More and more keen phone users are switching to the internet for good reasons: no landline rental and cheaper call costs. VoIP allows you to make and receive multiple calls on the same number – so long as you have separate VoIP-enabled handsets in your home. VoIP also has complete portability, so you can move house, or even overseas and still be able to plug in and make calls.”

“It won’t be long until VoIP takes over and becomes the norm,” says Phonechoice’s Doug Purdie.  “The quality is such now that calls sound completely normal. You really can’t pick the difference between VoIP and non VoIP.”

gotalk also gives customers the ability to call all over the world by adding World Pack to the award winning Aussie Pack.  The combined plan, called the “goVoIP Aussie and World Pack” comes with all the Aussie Pack features but also lets customers call 36 countries for no extra charge, 30 countries for 20c per call, 50 countries for 50c per call and 18 countries for just 75c per call.  The goVoIP Aussie and World Pack costs just $24.90 per month when combined with a gotalk broadband plan or $29.90 if standalone. Here’s what you receive:

Local / National calls: 600 calls (talk for up to 2 hours on each call!)

Calls to Aussie Mobiles: 100 calls to Aussie mobiles (or up to 500 minutes to Aussie mobiles, whichever is the lesser).
