Servcorp’s new Ethernet WAN

Announcement posted by Uecomm 17 Dec 2009

Recognised as providing the world’s finest serviced virtual office facilities across Australia and globally, Servcorp requires a network solution to keep its business in front of the competition.

Already heralding offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Canberra, and international locations including Auckland, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Dubai, Bahrain, Paris, and Brussels, Servcorp is keen to continue expansion overseas, with a plan to set up offices in UK and USA along with further locations in Asia, the Middle East and Australia.

Telecommunications are critical to any office, and as such, Servcorp required a robust voice and data network ensuring fast, secure and cost effective broadband Internet, email and communication services. Providing clients with the best technology to complement the physical office or provide remote business people with virtual solutions remains a clear focus for Servcorp.

Servcorp also required quick provisioning of new services and the flexibility for urgent short-term high-bandwidth changes to meet new client needs quickly.

Servcorp chose Uecomm to provide an Ethernet WAN and Internet services for all 16 sites in Australia to increase the robustness, reliability and scalability of its network. Uecomm also increased the bandwidth at some key sites to accommodate business growth and ongoing client requirements.

Uecomm’s Network Operations Centre (NOC), which is staffed 24/7 by qualified engineers, will proactively monitor Servcorp’s network, increasing the robustness of the WAN and Internet connections while ensuring continuation of data communications, which is critical to Servcorp’s core business.

Moving to Uecomm’s Layer 2 VPLS network enables Servcorp to easily move to a Nationwide VPN in the future which is planned for migration in next 12 to 18 months.

According to Servcorp's Group Executive, Unified Communications, Daniel Kukucka, the decision to migrate to a Uecomm Ethernet WAN was driven by Uecomm’s flexibility and responsiveness in designing a network that would allow for robust data services with the functionality of bandwidth on request within just 24 hours. Other providers required two to three weeks.

“Our previous network provider delivered a great network service, but they simply did not offer the level of support or flexibility we required for our business,” explained Kukucka.

“Key to our decision to choose Uecomm as our network provider was the superior customer service and network security delivered by the NOC and the peace of mind that we could easily increase our service speeds to meet our varying client demands.”

Uecomm’s solution also provides Servcorp with the ability to easily transform their Australia-wide network in the future, via simple software changes to provide a single Ethernet VPN WAN connecting all sites for increased security, reduced IT costs and lower inter-office traffic costs.

Further, by utilising Uecomm’s fibre services, and access to third party networks across Australia, Uecomm is able to quickly accommodate increased bandwidth without high infrastructure costs.

Uecomm’s Acting CEO and Director of Technology, Ian Noble says the unique needs of Servcorp’s business model required the scalability and quick provisioning an Ethernet network can provide.

Noble also said the services provided by the Uecomm’s NOC were attractive to businesses that were using their networks as the primary service for their own clients.

“Servcorp's business is reliant on a robust network that will deliver uninterrupted network access for its clients. If there is a failure in the network, and service delivery is not provided to the highest of standards, Servcorp’s clients will suffer, and potentially seek another provider.

“Our proactive network monitoring provides the assurance that any network issues are detected and resolved quickly, ensuring minimum disruption to the business,” Noble said.

The strength of Uecomm’s client support, provided by the NOC, was recently recognised in the 2009 Customer Service Institute of Australia’s Service Excellence Awards, awarding Uecomm as the Victorian state winner in the Best Help Desk category.

Servcorp required a data network that provided diversity and redundancy for business continuation of services, as well as the ability for bandwidth flexibility for urgent short term high-bandwidth requirements.

process

Uecomm provided the WAN and Internet services for all 16 sites in Australia, replicating the existing network structure. All sites are connected to Uecomm’s fibre network, and for sites where redundancy is required both Uecomm and Optus fibre is used.

possibilities
