Local grown tenor performs the classics at Sunset@Subi

Announcement posted by Pan International (Australia) Pty Ltd 11 Jan 2010

The City of Subiaco is proud to present Jay Weston as the feature artist for the fifth concert in the Sunset@Subi series to take place on Sunday 17 January between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Mueller Park.

Well known for his expansive repertoire and magical vocal style, Jay Weston uses the depth and power of his rich tenor voice to take the audience on an emotional journey through the genres of opera, musical theatre, classical and contemporary song.

Jay Weston studied for a Bachelor of Music (Classical) at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and later completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance, including the Academic Award of Excellence at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Jay’s classical training has given him a musical suppleness that is evident in the artist’s ability to cover a range of genres and styles within one performance. Jay’s artistic versatility extends to the piano and to writing his own compositions and new arrangements of popular classics. He has recorded versions of well known songs such as Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher’s classic love song You Are So Beautiful or the haunting and poetic Leonard Cohen anthem Hallelujah.

Audiences can expect an evening of high quality music and song from a consummate professional. Jay Weston will perform across a broad landscape of musical tastes and styles to ensure an uplifting vocal encounter for all those who join him on the lush lawns of Mueller Park.

The Sunset@Subi concerts feature a free program of diverse and highly talented artists that range from classical to rhythm and jazz. The concerts are an opportunity for the community to venture out for an afternoon of arts and culture.
