Software Education’s Sharon Robson Receives Global Recognition as Tester of Influence

Sharon Robson, Knowledge Engineer at Software Education, has been recognised by US magazine, Software Test & Performance, as one of the world’s top women software testers.

In the latest issue, entitled “Women of influence”, Karen Johnson, herself a leading light in the software testing industry, identifies Sharon as one of 13 women from around the world whom she believes have had significant influence on the profession.

With representation from the US, Europe, Canada and India, including the likes of Dorothy Graham and Elisabeth Hendrickson, Sharon is the sole representative from Australasia.

Each individual was asked not only to contribute an article to the magazine, but also to share their career highlights and insights into the software testing profession. In Sharon’s case, she highlights three principle areas of accomplishment: her training activities with Software Education, during which she is able to “open the world of testing to others”; her corporate work prior to joining Software Education and finally her work as a founding board member of the Australia New Zealand Testing Board (ANZTB).

As she says:

“Software testing shows the value of the system that has been built – for the team it is empowering, it is validating, it is the rationale for the work that has been done and what is yet to come; for the customer it is assurance that the software will perform to spec.”

Sharon will be MC for the region’s most comprehensive software testing conference, STANZ 2010, taking place in Wellington and Sydney in August.
