DWS-4026 Switches Provide Increased Throughput, Reliability and Scalability with Support for DWL-8600AP Wireless Unified 802.11n Simultaneous Dual-Band Access Points
SYDNEY, Aust. -- January 11, 2010 -- D-Link Australia & New Zealand, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for business and consumers, today introduced a fully managed unified 802.11n solution for medium to large scale wireless deployments based on the new D-Link DWS-4026 business class, centrally managed Gigabit Wireless Switch/Controller.

The new D-Link DWS-4026 Unified Wired/Wireless Switching solution supports the newly ratified 802.11n wireless standard and, with the new D-Link DWL-8600AP Wireless Unified 802.11n simultaneous Dual-Band Access Points (see separate media release), provides high performance dual-band connectivity for increased wireless network capacity.

D-Link's Unified Wired/Wireless Switching solutions provide an innovative evolution in wireless LAN. Complex installations, intricate management utilities and limited scalability had previously made network administrators hesitant to deploy facility-wide wireless LANs. The new DWS-4026 Gigabit Wireless Switch/Controller addresses these concerns by simplifying installation and automating wireless administration.

In addition, wireless throughput, reliability and scalability is significantly enhanced with support for the new 802.11n wireless standard. Designed for medium to large scale wireless deployments, beneficiaries of this Wi-Fi innovation include IT integrators, network administrators, business end-users, government organisations, schools, hospitals, and hotspots such as convention halls, hotels and airports.

The DWS-4026 consolidates the security, manages the bandwidth and maintains the intelligence of the entire wireless network. It provides organisations with an easy upgrade to a next-generation 802.11n wireless LAN, simple deployment of wireless devices regardless of physical locations, and centralised management/policy enforcement of wireless mobility.

As wireless users move around, they may change their connection from access point to access point (AP). By constantly monitoring the AP's status, the switch supports AP-to-AP roaming for these users without requiring them to re-establishing authentication keys. This "Fast Roaming" process results in disruption-free, reliable wireless connectivity crucial for mobile applications such as Wi-Fi IP phone and wireless PDA connections.

In addition to monitoring users' identities and maintaining their authentication as they roam, the switch can configure and control all aspects of the wireless access points, including: RF channel and power management, wireless traffic segmentation, self-healing and load balancing, rogue AP detection and AP access security.

The DWS-4026 switch's self-healing and AP load balancing features increase the resiliency of a wireless network. The wireless switch makes it easy to keep the wireless LAN in top shape, creating the "self-healing wireless network". In case an AP fails, the neighbouring APs automatically increase signal levels to recover the affected areas. Moreover, the switch scans for rogue networks and is capable of detecting and mitigating attacks.

Equipped with 24 Gigabit ports with Power over Ethernet, 4 Combo SFP ports, two open slots for optional 10-Gigabit connections and redundant power supply (RPS) support, each DWS-4026 can manage up to 64 DWL-8600AP wireless access points, with multiple switches able to manage up to 256 APs in a single Fast Roaming group.
