Announcement posted by Hyperion Solutions 20 Feb 2004

Business Performance Management Solutions Available for Smaller Businesses
Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL), global leader in Business Performance Management software, has joined IBMs ISV Advantage Initiative, a program designed to provide independent software vendors (ISVs) with technical and marketing support to help meet the specific information technology needs of small and medium business (SMB) companies. This business segment has many of the same challenges managing business performance as do larger companies. Hyperions Business Performance Management solutions allow companies of all sizes to gain insight into what drives performance. Businesses use this insight to link strategy to action, plan dynamically and monitor performance on demand.

Hyperion Business Performance Management software is one of the industrys broadest solution set for achieving corporate transparency, accountability and improved performance. In addition to a leading business intelligence platform and tools, Hyperions Business Performance Management software includes applications such as performance scorecarding, business modeling and optimisation, budgeting and financial consolidation, planning and forecasting, performance monitoring, dashboarding and analytics.

Hyperion and IBM share many customers who rely on Hyperion applications running on IBMs platform, including IBM DB2* Universal Database and IBM WebSphere* Internet infrastructure software. In addition, Hyperion Performance Suite, the business intelligence platform that includes Hyperion Intelligence and Hyperion SQR, and many of Hyperions applications support the IBM eServer* systems. IBMs ISV Advantage program provides a means for Hyperion to create Business Performance Management solutions that meet the special needs of SMB customers. These customers typically have fewer resources than large businesses and require even greater implementation ease and speed.

Small and medium-sized businesses grapple with many of the same challenges successfully addressed by Business Performance Management software at large businesses, said John Pierson, vice president of global channel sales at Hyperion. Taking part in IBMs ISV Advantage program will enable us to leverage IBMs reach into this growing market and provide solutions that are robust enough to meet a customers current needs and also scale as the business grows.

We are pleased that Hyperion has joined ISV Advantage and are dedicated to IBM as a partner of choice, said Buell Duncan, general manager, ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. Medium sized business customers are seeking open solutions tailored to meet their needs, and IBM is committed to working with Hyperion to deliver this.

Hyperion will also work closely with IBM to expand its visibility in target vertical industries through various co-marketing and sales activities.

The IBM WebSphere and DB2 family includes products that are designed and priced specifically for small and medium businesses easy to install and manage, scalable to grow with a business, rich in functionality, and based on open standards to allow integration with existing software and hardware platforms.
