Presence Online welcomes Content Manager V8

Announcement posted by Presence Online 14 Jun 2002

V8 and Aptrix Multi-Platform a compelling combination
IBMs Next Generation Platform for Enterprise Content Management -- Content Manager* Version 8 has been launched with the support of leading content management infrastructure provider Presence Onlines Aptrix Multi-Platform content management solution.

"No company has a richer history of storing, managing and accessing information resources than IBM," commented Presence Online Director Adam Ginsburg. "This commitment to offering a consolidated infrastructure across an organization for managing all forms of content, from web, images, flash/shockwave, PDF and documents through to rich media like audio and video, is just what customers are asking for."

Presence Onlines Aptrix Multi-Platform content management solution works with IBM's Content Manager technology to deliver unique real-time dynamic solutions that marry content and transactions.

"The emerging enterprise content management market is the convergence of data management, web content management and document management, enabling customers to collect, manage and distribute all forms of business information, including business forms, audio and video images, and link it to core business processes," explained Ginsburg.

Factors driving the demand for content and document management services include the demand for integrated intranets, the demand for upgraded search and navigation, and the enterprise need for central or departmental management of content.

"The announcement of IBM Content Manager Version 8 provides customers with expanded support for all forms of information, enhanced usability and unlimited scalability to meet customers' growing needs," said Brett MacIntyre, vice-president of content and information integration, IBM. "The combination of IBM Content Manager and Presence Online helps customers gain increased value from their content."

The amount of content is not going to get smaller. Organizations therefore need a software infrastructure to integrate, manage and leverage unstructured content to be used anywhere and any time, both internally to support business processes, and externally to support e-business with customers and partners.

"IBM Content Manager, used in conjunction with Aptrix Multi-Platform, is a hugely compelling and unique solution for managing web and other digital assets," said Ginsburg. "We are very excited about IBM Content Manager Version 8 as it raises the benchmark on delivering access to the vast amount of information supporting today's e-business applications.

"As the amount of content in organizations continues to grow, so do the problems of versioning, back-up, storage and re-use of these valuable assets," Ginsburg added. "Deploying scalable enterprise content management systems is going to be key to most organizations in the near future."

Ginsburg announced that 2002 would also see Presence Online creating a new capability to support the Content Manager marketplace.

Presence Online and IBM, which recently signed a global Marketing Agreement, have successfully delivered joint solutions to market for the past five years. Presence Onlines Aptrix Multi-Platform solution fully integrates IBMs WebSphere software and J2EE Server. Presence Online also released the first web content management application running on Linux and supporting IBMs new eServer zSeries offering.

Presence Onlines value to IBM is also evidenced in its receipt of two prestigious IBM partner awards - at the recent IBM PartnerWorld event in San Francisco.

IBMs Asia Pacific Software Investment Initiative award recognizes Presence Online as one of IBMs top Asia Pacific business partners. Its Asia Pacific Star Award 2002 for Greatest Innovation in e-Business recognizes Presence Onlines Aptrix Multi-Platform content management solution as one that is transforming traditional business processes into e-business processes.
