Axis introduces smallest and smartest HDTV network camera

Announcement posted by Axis Communications 11 Mar 2010

AXIS M1054 Network Camera is ideal for securing small businesses, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and residences

Axis Communications today introduced the AXIS M1054 Network Camera, a small and smart camera ideal for securing locations such as small businesses, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and residences. This affordable, intuitive and reliable camera from the market leader in network video offers HDTV image quality and smart video surveillance features.

“AXIS M1054 is an extension to the hugely successful AXIS M10 Series that was introduced last year, and adds several features that have been requested by customers, including Power over Ethernet and HDTV” commented Wai King Wong, Country Manager Australia and New Zealand, Axis Communications. “The new camera offers a high-quality yet affordable video surveillance solution, which is quick to install and delivers HDTV quality video.”

This latest model of the AXIS M10 Series provides excellent video quality at 30 frames per second in HDTV 720p resolution. Moreover, AXIS M1054 comes with Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af support, reducing installation costs since only one cable is needed for carrying power and video.

AXIS M1054 includes the same features as the popular AXIS M1031-W (excluding the wireless interface), such as a passive infrared (PIR) sensor for detecting movement even in the dark, and a white LED light for illuminating the scene automatically when motion is detected or when requested by the user. It supports two-way audio with an integrated microphone and speaker, allowing remote users to listen in on an area as well as communicate with visitors or intruders. Uploaded or recorded audio clips can also be played in response to an alarm event. In addition to these features, it includes I/O (1 input and 1 output) for connecting devices such as sensors and external relays to activate lights or open/close doors.

.

AXIS M1054 provides multiple H.264 as well as Motion JPEG streams. H.264 compression enables optimisation of storage and bandwidth efficiency by significantly reducing the bit rate. Using progressive scan technology, the camera provides HDTV images of moving objects without motion blur.

AXIS M1054 Network Camera is supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner program as well as by AXIS Camera Station. The camera will be available in Q2 2010 through Axis’ distribution channels. For photos and other resources, please visit www.axis.com/corporate/press/press_material.htm?key=m1054.
