Sterling Commerce Introduces Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite 9.0

Announcement posted by Sterling Commerce 13 Apr 2010

New Intelligent Application Capabilities and Platform Enhancements Enable Companies to be more Agile and Respond Quicker to Market Changes

Dallas, Texas – Sterling Commerce Customer Connection – April 13, 2010 Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) company, today announced the availability of Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite 9.0, which enhances the solution’s market-leading service oriented architecture (SOA) platform to enable customers to achieve better results. Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite is a comprehensive solution for the entire inquiry-to-cash process.  The new version enables improved decision-making and the ability to respond faster to changes in the market from customers and to demand and supply by delivering:

  • Intelligent applications through new business intelligence capabilities;
  • The industry’s most advanced multi-tenancy capabilities available in an on-premise solution,
  • Process efficiencies through a new Business Center solution, new workflows, and advanced Web 2.0 features, and
  • New security capabilities to meet Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements.

Sterling Selling and Fulfillment 9.0 delivers intelligent applications by embedding analytics into critical supply chain processes.  In this way, built-in intelligence delivers recommendations to users or automates decision-making, leading to better results.  (See related release, “Sterling Commerce New Business Intelligence Strategy Takes its Market-Leading Supply Chain Applications to the Next Level,” at http://www.sterlingcommerce.com/go/businessintelligence/).

Enhancements to the solution’s flexible, SOA platform include multi-tenancy capabilities normally only available in cloud applications on an on-premise solution. These capabilities enable companies with multiple tenants – such as divisions, clients or storefronts – to manage upgrades and system changes individually for each part of the business.  In this way, customers can better manage their implementation of the software and improve time-to-market for new capabilities where they will have the most impact while minimizing the risks associated with the change process.  For application extensibility, the platform also leverages a common data model across all solutions within the Suite and provides the flexibility to better respond to market changes, while reducing operational costs.

The new version of Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite offers process efficiencies delivered by enabling business users to manage product attributes when bringing new products to market.  A new Business Center improves the process of selling by enabling business users to centrally manage product data, pricing, promotions, and catalog taxonomy.  The Suite also has improved the process for defining and managing quote approval workflows, which streamlines the quote-to-order process and eliminates manual errors.  Other enhanced workflows dynamically allocate customer orders based on priorities such as channel, customer types, etc., to improve customer service.  Advanced Web 2.0 features enable companies to build, launch, and manage multiple Web self-service storefronts via a single e-commerce platform.

Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite 9.0 includes integration with nuBridges Protect™ Token Manager to enable the company’s customers to meet PCI DSS requirements by using tokens in place of credit card numbers in order to protect consumer data.  These capabilities also enable the solution to meet Visa’s fifth Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) security mandate requiring all merchants to use a PA-DSS compliant solution before the deadline of July 1, 2010.  (See related release, “Sterling Commerce Collaborative Applications Add Tokenization Support,” http://www.nubridges.com/presscenter/release/?r=271).

“With the enhancements in this new version of Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite, Sterling Commerce continues to lead the industry in delivering both application functionality and the underlying technology for managing supply chain processes from inquiry-to-cash,” said Cory Wiegert, vice president, Applications Product Line, for Sterling Commerce.  “Working with our customers to define this release, we believe we have added the capabilities that will enable companies to optimize how they manage their business, put control in the hands of those users who are best placed to make decisions and improve the overall experience of the end customer.”
