2010 International Chambers of Commerce World Cup taking place this Friday 21st of May at Centennial Park, Sydney

Corporate football(soccer)teams in Sydney go in search of World Cup glory


The World Cup has already arrived for 32 corporate football teams who will switch their focus from the business world to the football field this Friday 21st of May at Centennial Park, Sydney in the hope of lifting the 2010 International Chambers of Commerce World Cup trophy.

A host of top companies including Macquarie Bank, KPMG, Sony Entertainment, Qantas, Hyundai, AXA, Dimension Data and EA Sports all representing their selected World Cup countries will head to Centennial Park this Friday afternoon to play in an exciting pre-run of the World Cup proper in South Africa which is now only 25 days away.

The teams have been training under the expert guidance of the event organisers Football Development Australia ahead of the tournament and it’s building up to be a very special day for all of the players, teams and supporters according to FDA Director Cormac Begley: “Excitement about the event is really spreading through corporate Sydney and the teams are motivated to do well for the company and country they are representing. We are aiming to turn the event into a much anticipated annual affair and shed light on the great work various international Chambers of commerce do in promoting trade between Australia & the rest of the World.”

Head of the Swiss Australian Chamber of Commerce, Marcel Svatos, sees the event as an important business networking opportunity: “The event will be a fantastic business networking forum and the post event after party will offer everyone the chance to talk football and business.”
