Uniden’s TRAX Series get an award-winning makeover

Announcement posted by Write Away Communication 19 May 2010

A makeover of Uniden’s popular TRAX GPS car navigation systems has seen the company’s TRAX 5000 recognised in the Australian InCar Magazine Awards for 2010.

Featuring an expansive 5” flat panel non-reflective LCD touch-screen and a sleek new design, the TRAX 5000 was highly commended in the category of Portable GPS of the Year. Both the TRAX 5000 and the newly introduced TRAX 4310 offer next generation 3D mapping technology to provide drivers with the most realistic navigation experience currently on the market.

Uniden has also updated its TRAX Series with the latest ‘Where-is’ mapping data (R17) from Sensis. The new data covers more than 99% of Australia’s population and over 1,100,000km of Australian roads including extended rural coverage. Some other improvements include enhanced safety features such as school zone warnings, increased lane guidance coverage and additional points of interest.

According to Brad Hales, Senior National Marketing Executive, Uniden Australia, the updated TRAX devices will enable safer and smarter driving.

“The release of the upgraded TRAX Series software demonstrates Uniden’s commitment to bringing Australians the most up-to-date navigational technology available,” he said.

“The new maps, along with the introduction of school zone warnings and our continued dedication to offering 360 degree 3D technology, help drivers navigate their way across the country safely, ensuring they get to their destination on time and stress-free.”

The judges of the
Australian InCar Magazine Awards for 2010 agree, stating “Uniden’s [TRAX 5000] large 5-inch touch-screen was an automatic plus for us; it’s bright and sharp. The clear menus are a pleasure to navigate when such a size excess is at your fingertips.

“The overhead ‘bird’s eye view’ of the cityscape is a novelty that doesn’t intrude on this unit’s very accurate navigation skills and doesn’t distract from its promptly-given traffic alerts.”

Uniden’s TRAX Series is renowned for its 360 Degree 3D Landmark technology enabling famous locations such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Queen Victoria Building and Sky Tower to be viewed in 3D from any angle. The TRAX Series also incorporates 360 degree 3D City Maps technology which makes it possible to virtually view entire city blocks and identify key areas of interest. 3D Terrain Software, which shows road elevations and land contours including overpasses and bridges is another key feature.

Designed for drivers who demand exceptionally user-friendly high-quality car navigation systems, the new Uniden TRAX 5000 and TRAX 4310 are available now from leading electrical retailers and department stores.
