SafeBox, a new mobile application for private texting

Announcement posted by SafeBox Solutions Ltd. 24 May 2010

Keep your text messages private and keep out of trouble

Irish software company SafeBox Ltd. has announced the launch of a new mobile phone application, SafeBox, available in over 200 countries, that promises to help everyone keep their sensitive text messages invisible to anyone who goes through their phone.

Mobile privacy concerns make the headlines regularly on the web, but these concerns are even more relevant in the mobile space.

Footballers, actors, golfers, musicians and politicians are not the only ones to be concerned about mobile privacy, everyone is at risk of someone reading their text messages behind their back or looking at their list of contacts to find numbers they shouldn’t.

SafeBox makes unwanted mobile phone spying a thing of the past as users can choose which text messages or contacts they want to make invisible to anyone who may be snooping through their phone.

SafeBox is a PIN-protected application that lets mobile users keep their SMS and contacts private and hide them from anyone else taking their mobile phone.

It allows mobile users to create a secret space in their mobile phone to send and receive private SMS (normal or encrypted) and create a list of secret contacts invisible in the normal folders of the phone.

“We are currently enjoying over 1000 downloads per day” says Philippe Joly, CEO of SafeBox Ltd. “We want to make SafeBox the de facto privacy tool for the mobile”

SafeBox mirrors the standard SMS behaviour of the phones which makes it intuitive and simple to use for everyone and doesn’t require any technical knowledge. The application is available in 7 languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian and Italian) and is free to download from the www.safebox.mobi website that can be accessed from the web or directly from the mobile phone browser.

The SafeBox application can also be downloaded from the popular GetJar and PocketGear app stores.
