Book Week 2010 Across the Story Bridge

Book Week is celebrated each year in mid to late August. This annual event highlights the importance of reading, and draws on the joy of stories and creativity of Australian books.
The Children's Book Counciltheme this year 'Across the Story Bridge' allows us to focus on the importance of bridges in bringing people and things together, but more importantly, it raises our awareness of how reading a book is like crossing a bridge into the mind of another person i.e. the author.
Zart Education has just launched their Book Week book'Across the Story Bridge', which celebrates linking art with literature. This book features activities for each of the twelve picture books short listed for Book of the Year award which isannounced on August 20th 2010.
To further assist educators of art and literature Zart Education will be conducting professional development sessions where art, classroom and library teachers, can release theircreativity in response to these books.
