The Little Scarf Shop was founded by Katherine Craig in 2009. Here‘s the story behind her vision...
When I left New York to return to Sydney, in the midst of the global financial crisis, like many other people I struggled to find a job in my chosen industry. After a great deal of soul-searching, and inspired by Poppy King's Lessons of a Lipstick Queen, I realized that this was an opportune time to take a leap of faith and launch my own business. I wanted a business that would allow me to work with conviction and integrity and provide a quality product that I was passionate about. I wanted to create something that would allow women of any age to look smart, chic, fashionable, fun, expensive - wherever their mood was taking them, but most importantly, feel like a million bucks.
In New York, I was inspired by the way a beautiful scarf could smartly complete an outfit. Done right, this accessory could be that innovative, beautiful and luxurious "must have" piece that would transform your look - and maybe even your mood. So, The Little Scarf Shop began with a vision for an online store that would become the destination for women looking for scarves that feel as beautiful as they look. I wanted to produce scarves that would become wardrobe classics; quality pieces in gorgeous fashion colours that complement any outfit. They'd provide a pop of colour even on the greyest of winter days. In warmer months, rather than carrying a bulky coat, these scarves could be super-chic draped around your neck. And the scarves I envisioned had to be made from the finest Italian cashmere, so women could feel the luxury while getting the practical benefits of keeping cosy warm on the wintry streets, at dinner with friends, while travelling, or in a chilly air-conditioned office.
