MELBOURNE, Australia – June 24,2010 – St Vincents and Mercy Private in Melbourne, Victoria, has selected Aesop as the new rostering solution for its three facilities, St Vincents Private, Mercy Private and Vimy Private.
St Vincents and Mercy Private (www.stvincentsmercy.com.au) is a private, not-for-profitCatholic hospital and is one of the largest privateacute care hospitals in Melbourne, with more than 1,600 staff. Aesop (www.aesophealthcare.com.au), provided by Frontline Placement Technologies, is a rostering and casual shift fulfilment solution that uses SMS, phone and web technologies to allow healthcare personnel to easily build the roster online and then let Aesop fill the gaps.
St Vincents and Mercy Private chose to implement Aesop’s Rostering and Fulfilment modules for 1,650 of their staff and will have all units go live in December 2010. Currently, the organisation’s rostering and fulfilment process is entirely manual.
St Vincents and Mercy Private had been in search of a rostering solution for a number of years, but none of the other vendors they looked at could provide a simple, yet reliable solution to meet the needs of the hospital.
“It wasn’t until I started to hear about the Aesop product that I thought we might have found a much more streamlined solution that could meet our needs,” said Anna Clarke, the Director of Human Resources and Workforce. “Aesop is a lot less hassle than some of the other products that we were looking at.”
After a detailed analysis and Implementation Planning Study, St Vincents and Mercy Private decided Aesop was the right fit.
“Aesop will allow us to be lot more efficient and will provide reliability in getting the staff that we want,” Clarke said. “The SMS and web technology will be fantastic in terms of access to rosters—much more timely access, ability to put in requests and ability to accept shifts.”
Aesop saves hours for Nursing Unit Managers and other employees by allowing them to easily build the roster online and make changes visible in real-time. Extensive permissions allow Nursing Unit Managers to allocate more of the rostering process to support personnel and regain clinical time. In addition, Aesop’s fulfillment module locates and contacts qualified and available staff via SMS, phone and web in order to quickly fill gaps in the roster. Aesop’s highly configurable reports target the information needed in real time by Nurse Unit Managers.
St Vincents and Mercy will benefit from an integration between Aesop and their payroll system, SAP. Clarke said the integration was a key factor in the decision process to implement Aesop. Instead of four or five people manually copying data from time sheets to payroll, the Aesop roster will act as a time sheet and make it easy to export the data and share it with payroll, she said.
