Equant Enhances Online Network Monitoring Tool

Announcement posted by Equant 13 Mar 2002

Equant WebVision gives customers a real-time Web-based window on their global networks
Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU) announces the launch of Equant WebVision v5.0, the latest version of its online, Web-based, customer reporting and service management application.

Equant WebVision has won wide acceptance since its introduction four years ago and now serves more than 1,000 users. The new version provides more information on more network services than earlier Equant WebVision versions and competitors products. In particular, it offers enhanced service management capabilities for customers with Equant IP VPN.

For example, an Equant IP VPN customer can now monitor key network statistics such as jitter, delay and packet-loss for each of four classes of service.

At RMC Group, we are using Equant WebVision, said Tony Drewer-Trump, IT Services manager, RMC Group. At first, it gave us visibility into our network operation and trouble ticket management. As weve grown, the functionality within WebVision seems to have grown with us, enabling us not only to manage and monitor our global network more easily but also to make informed decisions promptly. With the recent enhancement of topology refreshes every 60 seconds, we really feel we have an instantaneous view of our network and its components.

Customers benefit from secure access to Equant WebVision via a standard Web browser either over an Equant network connection or through the public Internet. WebVision ensures that this vital information is further secured by encryption.

The new version of Equant WebVision provides:
Access to component configurations so customers can see and monitor every element of their network.
Network performance indicators including quality of service, availability, measurement of round trip delay, SLA reports and indicators.
Total fault management. Equant customers can interact online with the Equant global Customer Service Centers. They can open trouble tickets online, track the progress on each ticket, customize trouble ticket search and receive updates by e-mail.
Real-time VPN management with a graphical display of customers network topology refreshed every 60 seconds.
Cell-loss ratio and cell transfer delay statistics for Equant ATM permanent and switched virtual circuits; data delivery rate for Equant Frame Relay; and call duration for Equant IP Dial.

It is essential that multinational corporations have real time visibility of how their mission-critical applications are performing, said Carl Robertson, head of Equant Customer Care. With more than 1,000 users, Equant WebVision is the proven service management application for multinationals.
