ClerkMaxwell plans to create at least 20 jobs after doubling the size of Aberdeen office

Oil and gas consultancy, ClerkMaxwell, plans to increase its workforce by 40% by the end of the year after doubling the size of its office.

The Aberdeen-based engineering and design specialist, which has delivered projects in the North Sea and worldwide, currently has a team of 50, but now has the capacity for 110.

Staffing is expected to rise to 70 by the end of the year after the decision to take on another floor at Salvesen Tower in the centre of the Aberdeen.

As a result, ClerkMaxwell’s office space has expanded from 3500 sq ft to 7000 sq ft.

The decision to expand comes on the back of 700,000 worth of new business from existing and new clients on top of previous contract wins.

ClerkMaxwell Managing Director John Wilson said: “This latest expansion of the company has been achieved through repeat business and other project work. We plan to have 20 new recruits by the end of the year.

“We are also confident of landing further contracts with oil majors in future and, therefore, will be looking to recruit more high-calibre engineers to deliver on a variety of technical projects.

“The increased office space allows ClerkMaxwell to cope with that future growth.”

ClerkMaxwell's integrated approach of bridging the gap between the conceptual and detailed engineering design phases has been well received in the market since the company was formed in 2008.

Mr Wilson added: “We have been working on a number of highly technical contracts, such as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) projects, and delivered solutions through our innovative approach to project delivery.

“Our expertise enables us to better understand the impact of decisions made during the front end design phases of a project and how such decisions may affect the project implementation and installation phases, and ultimately the effective operation of the facility.

“The key today is to work smarter and place more emphasis on bringing greater operation and detailed design knowledge to projects.”

ClerkMaxwell offers a range of technical and development skills encompassing both topsides and subsea disciplines.

The company was set up by Managing Director John Wilson, Subsea and Pipelines Director Guy Cook, Technical Director Satnam Shoker, Projects Director Sean Close and Executive Officer Alistair Dornan, who between them have more than 100 years’ engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
