RMIT Publishing launches the first 100% full text database dedicated to Australian family research.

RMIT Publishing launches the new Informit Families & Society Collection, the first 100% full text research database dedicated to Australian family research. With the definition of ‘family’ and the challenges faced by families in modern society changing rapidly, this Collection has been developed in response to growing demand for relevant, authoritative research dedicated to this topic.

Policy makers, social workers, employers, educators and researchers will benefit from over 10,000 articles published in 22 peer reviewed journals from government and specialist organisations. Topics covered include non-traditional families, parenting, marriage, divorce, division of labour, working mothers, birth rates and ageing.

Informit Families & Society Collection includes content from 1976 to the present from authoritative content partners including the Australian Institute of Family Studies, Australian Clearinghouse for Youth Studies, Australian Council of Social Service, Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies, Australian Population Association and the University of New South Wales Faculty of Law. Key titles include Family Matters, Youth Studies Australia, Australian Journal of Social Issues, Journal of Population Research, Journal of Family Studies and Rural Society. Future additions to the Collection will extend to encompass content from New Zealand and across the Asia Pacific region.

‘Youth Studies Australia, published by the Australian Clearinghouse for Youth Services, is now in its 30th year. ACYS utilizes Informit as an effective resource to ensure that as many people as possible have access to the journal, its research and practice-based articles on issues affecting young people. ACYS values Informit’s services because of the wider audience this provides for Australian researchers, practitioners and policymakers.’

With the majority of content exclusively available online through Informit, this Collection provides an unparalleled source of informed and balanced perspectives on issues relating to families in an ever-changing society. http://www.informit.com.au/family.html
