Polycom Responds to Increased Demand in Canberra with New Role

Announcement posted by Polycom Australia 22 Sep 2010

Mr. Kevin Keane appointed to newly created role of Senior Sales Engineer

Sydney, 16 September 2010 – Polycom Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), the largest independent global provider of telepresence, video and voice communications solutions, has made an addition to its Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) team, with the appointment of Mr. Kevin Keane to the role of Senior Sales Engineer, based out of the Canberra office. In this role, Mr. Keane will act as an advisor and technical consultant for the development and deployment of Polycom's end-to-end video, voice and data products and services, in addition to providing specialist knowledge and advice on developments in the video conferencing space.

Mr. Keane will support ANZ Vertical Business Manager, Ms. Lynette Whitfield in strengthening Polycom’s presence in Canberra, and Mr. Darryn Keiller who was recently appointed as New Zealand’s Director of Sales.

Mr. Keane’s appointment follows a sustained period of expansion by Polycom in ANZ over the last year – which included the launch of Polycom’s Canberra office in June 2009 – and will help to better support increasing demand for Polycom’s high-definition (HD) visual communication solutions.

“More and more businesses are reviewing the need for business travel and adopting HD video and telepresence solutions as a replacement. With the re-election of the Labor Government and their pledge to start the rollout of the National Broadband Network, the future of mass video adoption becomes a reality as it increases the potential for transformative impacts to health, education and government services,” said Mr. Michael Chetner, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, at Polycom.

Mr. Chetner added: “Polycom has a large base of government customers and agencies and as more adopt video conferencing solutions to communicate, it makes sense for us to increase our presence in Canberra. Kevin brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the federal market.”

Mr. Keane commented: "I'm thrilled to be joining Polycom at a time when the video conferencing industry is experiencing such tremendous growth and is being propelled further by government plans to move forward with national broadband initiatives. With so much momentum in the market, there is a great opportunity for Polycom to further cement its already strong leadership position.”

Joining Polycom after working for key federal partner ServicePoint for 11 years, Mr. Keane has extensive industry experience, working in various operational, technical and sales engineering roles. Mr. Keane has a wealth of knowledge about the federal market and the special security and unified communications requirements of these customers.

Prior to working for ServicePoint, Mr. Keane held the role of Voice & Video Communications Specialist for the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC).
