Siebel Systems and PTC create strategic alliance to leverage enriched information across product development, sales and service

Announcement posted by Siebel Systems 30 Jan 2002

Combination of Siebel eBusiness Applications and PTC Collaborative Product Development Solutions to deliver competitive advantage
Siebel Systems, Inc, the worlds leading provider of eBusiness applications software and PTC, the product development company announced this month that they have formed a strategic alliance to integrate Siebel eBusiness Applications with PTC Collaborative Product Development (CPD) solutions. As a result of this alliance, Siebel eBusiness Applications users will be able to view rich digital product data within PTC solutions, dramatically enhancing the customer experience, sales and marketing effectiveness, and service operations across all customer touch points.

Bill McMurray, Senior Vice President, PTC South Asia said, "Companies that take up this combined offering will be able to pull customer preferences into PTCs product development process for better decision-making, product innovation, and improved time-to-market."

Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of eBusiness applications software, enabling multi-channel sales, marketing, and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web, call centers, field, reseller channels, retail, and dealer networks. PTCs CPD solutions, based on the companys Windchill technology, utilise the Internet to allow manufacturers and their customers, suppliers, and partners to manage the entire lifecycle of their products across product design, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, production, service, and repair.

This alliance allows sales, marketing and service professionals using Siebel eBusiness Applications to access to rich product data including product hierarchy and attributes as well as a variety of product centric documents - including CAD files, manufacturing instructions, test procedures or even marketing literature - residing in PTC solutions for a more robust product development process. Sales, marketing and service professionals will now have access the critical information they need to handle service requests with greater efficiency and influence future product development. Connecting customer feedback and service data combined with digital product development data will help companies to greatly reduce time-to-market, which is critical in todays competitive environment.

"This alliance addresses our mutual customers desire to leverage rich product data, such as that derived using PTC solutions, in Siebel eBusiness Applications. As a result of this partnership, our joint customers will realize a greater competitive advantage as they tie product design to customer preferences ultimately improving their time to market," stated Dr. Steve Garnett, Vice President and General Manager of Alliances at Siebel Systems.
