New Hyperion BI Platform opens the door of business intelligence to the Linux community delivering low total cost of ownership solution
Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL), the leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that it is the first Business Performance Management software vendor to offer end-to-end support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux across its business intelligence platform.
Business intelligence and Business Performance Management applications are critical in the enterprise, said Deb Woods, vice president of Product Management at Red Hat. We are excited that Hyperion will address this application space on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform. Our joint customers will benefit from the quality and value of this integrated solution.
Open standards, flexibility, reliability and performance are highly regarded attributes of Linux in the enterprise. Customers are increasingly choosing Linux as a key component of their enterprise infrastructure. With this announcement, Hyperion is expanding usage options for Red Hat Enterprise Linux customers by providing a wide variety of high value, low cost options to meet their business intelligence and business performance management needs.
We are very pleased with the value of Hyperion software running on Linux", said Patrick Leplat, chief information officer for RCI Finance - the financial branch of Renault Nissan Suisse SA in Switzerland. We are moving toward the Linux platform because it is a cost-effective platform to deploy broadly. The associated cost savings are important to our company and the superior price/performance ratio of Hyperion SQR on Linux will deliver measurable value to us.
"We are pleased that Hyperion is making their business intelligence solutions available on Linux, said Gary Schneider, director Linux business development, IBM Information Management. "The business intelligence market is growing rapidly on Linux, and the availability of Hyperion's BI Platform on Linux gives our customers another option for dramatically reducing their total cost of ownership. Combined with the power of IBM DB2 software on Linux, we expect this will drive even broader penetration of business intelligence solutions on Linux and across the enterprise."
We are evaluating a Linux server to run our Hyperion Essbase operations with the hopes of improving efficiencies and decreasing overall costs, said Bill Glassen, director of information technology at Cashman Equipment. We also hope to gain additional stability and decreased maintenance costs with the use of a Linux solution. We are excited about the opportunity to test the Linux version of Hyperion Essbase. Over the past several years, Hyperion has been very proactive in supporting new technologies, and the Linux package is another step in their innovative direction.
