Medals in three categories to Melbourne based specialty coffee roaster

Local Melbourne coffee roaster and specialty coffee supporter, Veneziano Coffee was both thrilled and humbled to be the recipient of medals in three categories at the weekend in Australia's most pretigious coffee roasting competition, the CSR Sugar Golden Bean Award, held in Port Maquarie.

The Golden Bean competition, held over four days from November 18 - 21, attracted over a thousand entrants as well as the involvement of high calibre Australian baristas David Makin, Zoe Delaney and Habib Maarbani. Head judge for the World Barista Championships Justin Metcalf was also on hand to oversee the judging.

Veneziano Coffee received medals for:

Gold – best coffee blend by a group or caf chain. This marked a back-to-back gold medal win on behalf of Cafenatics in this category. To see the collaboration between Veneziano and Cafenatics in creating a blend designed for Cafenatics customers being validated by industry peers was fantastic recognition for the team.

Silver – espresso category. This was awarded to Veneziano’s newest blend, Bond Street Espresso, a brilliant result for the seasonal blend available as of less than two months ago and yet to be formally launched.

The concept behind Bond Street Espresso is that it’s a seasonal blend developed to take complete advantage of the crop freshness and to ensure optimal aroma and flavour profiles from the bean. In an Australian first, Bond Street Espresso is developed with direct input from the actual caf owners who are then able to influence the end result.

Silver – Veneziano Swiss Water Decaffeinated blend also won a silver medal.
