Gametraders have compiled a Top Ten Must Have Games for Christmas 2010.

The list, based on retail sales for 2010, Facebook votes and world wide game sales, is ideal for those buying games for friends and loved ones this Christmas season.

The list in no particular order is:

10 Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii is the return of the loveable game character in another dynamically challenging adventure.

Ideal for young and old and those reminiscing about the great days of gaming. Rated G.

9 Halo Reach on XBOX360 is the latest instalment of the popular Halo franchise. More First Person Shooter action from developer, Bungie. Reach has better graphics with a grittier look and is set prior to the first game. Ideal for older teen boys who love action and dads who desperately want to beat their kids at combat games. Ideal also for female players who love to show the males who's boss in multiplayer gaming. Rated MA15+

8 Assassins Creed: Brotherhood on most formats is a third person action-adventure game set in Italy. As the player wanders the game world, they can recruit new members and send them on missions that help with the game's outcome. Rated MA15+ so not for the young.

7 Gran Turismo 5 will finally be released to eager race fans in time for Christmas sales. On Playstation 3, GT5 (as it is known), will likely be the most wanted driving game on Sony's system. GT5 will be the first of the franchise to feature damage to vehicles - a plus for Dads and Mums who take on teens who traditionally bounce around the track with abandon, winning races regardless of how many cars or walls they hit. Rated G.

6 Call of Duty: Black Ops. What more can be said about the eagerly anticipated First Person Shooter that debut with combined sales of over 9 million. Available on most formats this version sees the player in the role of a foot solder playing missions in the single player mode or offering online action where the game really shines. Rated MA15+.

5 World of Warcraft Cataclysm on PC and Mac is the next instalment to the massively popular series. Buy it, play it and be prepared for lots of late nights. Rated M

4 Golden Eye on Wii offers 4 player on screen multiplayer action, great Bond guns and gadgets and the option to get a special Golden Controller to play with. Rated M.

3 Super Mario 25th All Stars: 25th Anniversary Edition for the Mario nuts. This special release features Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 plus the Lost Levels. You also get a special booklet detailing the history of Super Mario plus and audio CD - one for fans and collectors - Rated G and only on Wii.

2 Epic Mickey on Wii is a slightly different Disney adventure. Using a more retro looking Mickey this adventure sees Mickey in a cartoon universe called the Cartoon Wasteland. Rated PG and likely to offer great gaming for anyone wanting a game that has action but gets you thinking through challenges.

1 Star Wars Force Unleashed II on all formats. Yes the epic story has you in the role of an apprentice to Darth Vader .Iit is set between Episode 3 and Episode 4 and anything Star Wars is always popular for action and sci fi fans. Rated M
