Catholic Education Engages Salvus Software for Workplace Injury Management

Announcement posted by ComOps 17 Dec 2010

Sydney, 17th December 2010 – ComOps, a leading Australasian provider of business software products and services, today announced that the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta will deploy the ComOps Salvus safety, risk and claims management software.

Salvus will help ensure that the Catholic Education Office fulfills its injury management obligations for all employees. It will enable the education provider to analyse and report on injury management issues, including various financial metrics as well as by individual school locations and will be deployed as part of the organisation’s overall occupational, health and safety strategy.

Salvus will replace the diocese’s two existing separate online databases that were developed in-house more than three years ago for workplace injury reporting but were limited in capacity to manipulate data for analysis and reporting purposes.

“We were looking for greater flexibility in our data management and to eliminate double handling of data. We also wanted an increased level of functionality and improved reporting,” explains Steve Marchant, Head of Staff Services, Catholic Education.

The decision to choose Salvus follows a comprehensive market review of claims management solutions, including in-depth research undertaken at the Sydney Safety Show in 2009.

“We concluded that the ComOps Salvus solution is the optimum safety reporting and claims management solution for our purposes with the ability to provide our senior leadership with detailed analysis and reports. It will enable us to customise reports and access data through a web-based infrastructure from all our school locations. At the same time, Salvus will help automate, collect and analyse the organisation’s compliance activities as well as measure key performance indicators and cost of claims.

“We’re also hoping to streamline our administration processes which will enable us to be more proactive in claims management.”

The Diocese of Parramatta is located in one of the fastest growing areas of New South Wales and includes 77 Catholic systemic schools (55 primary and 22 secondary) with a total student population of over 41,000 students and 4,000 staff.

“Salvus will also enable us to raise the profile of workers’ compensation and injury management with the purpose of improving management of our claims and awareness of injuries and their management.  Ultimately, claims will be managed more effectively and more efficiently,” says Marchant.

Salvus will be completely deployed throughout the Diocese by first quarter 2011.
