Austech 2011 set to boost manufacturing activity

Announcement posted by com4tech 19 Jan 2011

Melbourne, 14 January 2011
– After a continued softness in the manufacturing sector in December, Austech organiser AMTIL (Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited) is confident that Austech 2011, Australia’s premier advanced precision manufacturing and machine tool exhibition, offers an ideal platform to support the growth and performance of Australia’s advanced manufacturing industry.

While the manufacturing sector started 2010 with conditions improving strongly, since around March the sector saw first a slowing pace of growth and, over the closing four months of the year, falls in levels of activity, according to the latest seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group - PwC Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index.

"In the face of these declines in activity and the continuing slump in new orders, it is imperative that businesses continue to search for efficiencies, improvements and innovative approaches to their markets, products and business models,” PwC Global Head of Industrial Manufacturing, Graeme Billings, said.

AMTIL supports this view and runs several initiatives and projects aiming to improve the performance and output of Australia’s advanced manufacturing industry by helping companies to fully integrate new technology or processes into the entirety of their business operations. Austech forms a central part of these initiatives and is a ‘must-attend’ event for every manufacturer looking for efficient technology to be competitive on the global market and master the effects of the GFC quickly.

With 80+ registered exhibitors, the show is already 91% sold out and with a floor space of 6000 square metres, Austech 2011 offers a meeting point for the entire Australian advanced manufacturing sector. With a focus on machine tools, manufacturing systems, sheetmetal machinery, precision tools, automated materials flows, computer technology, efficient technical solutions and product-related services, it will once again be the platform where Australia’s metalworking world meets. Austech and National Manufacturing Week (NMW) will line up alongside the triennial Ausplas international plastics industry exhibition from 24 to 27 May 2011 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

“Austech ensures that local manufacturers have the opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to the latest technologies that will enhance their efficiencies,” AMTIL CEO Shane Infanti says. “A drive toward improved efficiencies within each company can have effects right across the supply chain, thereby increasing the national industry’s capability.”

Moreover, with its new online presence (www.austechexpo.com.au) Austech now provides exhibitors and visitors with an online forum tailored to their needs, including easy online registration and stand booking information, a list of exhibitors, as well as the latest related news and floor plans.
