Mitel Partners Expand Support for Virtualised Unified Communications in Asia Pacific Markets

Announcement posted by Mitel 04 Feb 2011

Mitel (NASDAQ: MITL), a leading provider of unified communications software solutions, announced today an expansion of the number of accredited Mitel partners offering implementation and support for virtualised unified communications solutions, with local support available across major Asia Pacific markets.

Mitel has partnered with VMware to provide businesses and government agencies with the ability to host Mitel voice and unified communications applications on VMware vSphere™ 4. The open Mitel Freedom architecture enables this unique virtualisation solution allowing organisations to break free from the “walled garden” vendor model and design a communications network based on best-in-class technologies aimed at reducing the complexity of ongoing support and administration.

Mitel accredited partners specialising in virtualised unified communications solutions now offer implementation and support services in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and India. In addition to Asia Pacific countries, Mitel solutions are also available in Japan, South Korea, and Greater China.

Gwilym Funnell, Mitel Vice President Asia Pacific commented, “Many of our customers have offices in multiple countries, and datacentres are being built at a rapid pace across the Asia Pacific region. To ensure our customers have easy access to local technology expertise, we have completed an expanded round of virtualisation training for our Asia Pacific accredited partners. This will make it easier for Mitel customers to confidently plan migrations to virtualisation technologies, as they carry out datacentre projects in Asia Pacific countries.”

Tedja Hutama, senior director of Infokom, a Mitel authorizedPartner based in Indonesia commented, “Infokom has been a Mitel reseller for 20 years. We have grown by constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers. First, it was the migration from TDM to IP voice technologies, followed by fixed line to fixed/mobile convergence. We are now seeing a strong market shift towards virtualised voice solutions.”

Greg Fletcher-Harris, managing director of Data Mobility Voice, a Mitel premierPartner based in Australia commented, “We introduced Mitel virtualisation solutions to our portfolio less than six months ago, and have already deployed 10 implementations. Interest from clients in Mitel’s pure software virtualised solution is strong, and we think many organisations will move away from proprietary IP-PBX hardware platforms.”

Mitel’s PARTNERprogram consists of two levels - authorizedPARTNER and premierPARTNER, with each level differentiated by emphasis on service delivery capabilities and training for sales and technical staff. premierPARTNER status must employ an agreed number of Mitel certified technical staff, as well as offer 24 x 7 technical support, and operate an in-house help desk and demonstration centre. Mitel offers a full range of self-paced online training courses in addition to classroom-based training courses. Program certification is recorded on an individual basis, and follows the career of individuals.
