PDK DOJO MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL WAS VISITED BY SENSEI ARIE, A 7TH DAN BLACK BELT

Announcement posted by PDK Martial Arts School 13 May 2011

" When you instil confidence in the eyes of Karate Students and the possibilities become endless."

Last May 5, 2011 PDK Dojo Martial Arts School was visited by Sensei Arie, a native of Israel and a 7th Dan Black Belt Senior consultant of Zanshin Shotokan Karate Organisation for more than 25 years. Sensei Arie is also a Senior Instructor of the Kase Ha Karate Organisation.

The event was successful, giving the students of PDK Dojo the opportunity to train with Sensei Arie and have a good time. In his talk, Sensei Arie emphasized that club instructors as well as senior students of Martial Arts School like PDK Dojo should create challenges to its students using karate exercises and conducting drills in order to build a strong trust among them. This trust will enable the students to be confident and have faith in their capabilities that they can do anything. “When you instil confidence in the mind of Karate students, the possibilities become endless,” says Sensei Arie. “Instead of just teaching them the techniques of Karate where we only limit the child’s capabilities to handle situation, we should build the character of the student to the highest level to prepare them to be confident and knowledgeable in how to react and handle any situation presented to them, a defining characteristic of Karate students,” he emphasised.

Sensei Arie stressed out this word of wisdom to the students present in the event by citing the army as an example. “People in the army were not born ready to shoot someone nor be ready for battle. With the challenges they have to face, trust was built in their inner character and these soldiers became very confident that they can do anything, preparing themselves for different situation to the point of risking their lives” he says.

Bearing this word of wisdom from Sensei Arie, the students then had various exercises and drills to challenge and help them face their fears and weaknesses and more importantly help them realize that they are indeed capable of doing things beyond what they used to believe.

Upon interview, Sensei Ricky, the Principal Instructor of PDK Dojo, said that the event is one of the highlights of the Martial Arts School this year. “It gave me a strong sense of realization of the school’s value proposition, mission and vision.” “This event helped me recognise what I need to do as an instructor in order to develop our student’s character using Karate,” he also added.
