Erin Sampson Colombia update!

Announcement posted by Harvest Ideas 01 Jun 2011

Images came in last night from Erin Sampson of Veneziano Coffee, Australia's current number two barista.

They show her visit with the farmers of the Santa Rita Cooperative in Antioquia territory in Colombia.

Says Erin, "They were processing today on a farm with two million trees! They process during the busiest times 600,000 tonnes per day!".

The Antioquia region itself covers an area of 63 and half thousand square kilometres and consists mostly of mountainous terrain belonging to the Andes ranges, and valleys. The population is around 6.6 million.

Erin is currently in Colombia to assist Matt Perger with his World Barista Championship campaign and will make a trip to Panama to tour the coffee farm from which she sourced her competition coffee. She also had a stopover at Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Manhattan, New York.
