$2,500 for Orange early education program

Announcement posted by NRMA Motoring & Services 15 Jun 2011

NRMA Orange and NRMA Batteries will tomorrow donate $2,500 to the Orange and District Early Education Program to help build a parent and child lending library containing toys and educational material.

NRMA Batteries conducts four NRMA Country promotions throughout the year to support communities in regional NSW.

For every battery sold over their target, each service provider received an entry into a state-wide draw to win $2,500 towards a community initiative. NRMA Orange was this month’s lucky winner.

NRMA Director Graham Blight said it was fantastic that NRMA Orange and NRMA Batteries supported their local community by donating funds to the Orange and District Early Education Program.

"They work tirelessly to support families with children aged up to six who are having difficulty developing the skills they need to play, move, talk, learn and socialise," Mr Blight said.

"Once in operation, the parent and child lending library will only enhance the organisation’s ability to assist families in need of support.

"Some of the resources families will be able to borrow from the library include educational DVDs about coping with disabilities and toys."

The NRMA Batteries promotion has been running since 2008 and has provided more than $50,000 in donations to local community groups. The money has gone towards local community initiatives including equipment for special needs children in Casino and Yamba, a swimming pool enclosure at Pambula and medical equipment at Gilgandra Lodge.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A life-size novelty cheque will be presented to the Orange and District Early Education Program at 10.00am on Wednesday 15 June at Yarrawong Place, Bel-Air Estate, Orange.
