SYDNEY JUNE 21, 2011: Lace up your runners, bring the kids and harness the dog for the Inner West’s favourite fun run – the Bay Run – which will be held on Sunday August 7.
This will be the first Bay Run to utilise the newly constructed Iron Cove Bridge as well as the upgraded paths and parkland along the course. In its ninth year, the seven kilometre circuit is a favourite of committed runners, walkers and families alike.
“The Bay Run is a wonderful community event that brings together people from all over Sydney to enjoy the Inner West’s corner of the Harbour,” said Race Director, Scott Machin.
“We have events to suit all runners and walkers including the Fastest Dog in the Inner West race and the 2km Primary School Challenge for younger runners and walkers,” he said.
This year, participants in Bay Run are being encouraged to fundraise for CanTeen, the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer, through online fundraising on www.everydayhero.com.au and on the day through sales of its signature bandanas and a games stall.
The funds raised will make a huge difference to the lives of young Australians living with cancer who are going through an overwhelming experience but are supported by CanTeen’s programs and services, so they don’t have to face their cancer experience alone.
Last year the Bay Run attracted around 2300participants – so register early at www.bayrun.com.au. Registration begins at 6.30am and the main run starts at 8am. Coffee and a BBQ will be available on the day.

Additional funds raised after the costs of organising the race go to Dobroyd Point Public School for facilities for the students.
