'Art which emanates calmness within minimalism, yet entices you into the atmospheric depths.'

Depot II Gallery
2 Danks Street, Waterloo NSW 2017
21 June - 2 July 2011

SYDNEY - A graduate of the Charlie Sheard Studio School 2008, Garry Woods presents his first solo exhibition, at Depot II Gallery, Waterloo from Tuesday, 21 June – Saturday, 2 July 2011. Garry describes his paintings as 'art which emanates calmness within minimalism, yet entices you into the atmospheric depths.'

Light in it's many manifestations has always influenced Woods' work. Whether it be festivals such as Vivid Sydney, concert light shows from the innumerable bands he has seen, the darkness before the dawn or the beauty of a lingering sunset. Together with oil painting techniques of the old masters, some of the works in this exhibition have been abstracted from atmospheric photographs taken by Woods.

Previous Group Exhibitions were held in December 2008: Charlie Sheard Studio School Graduate Exhibition at the Damien Minton Gallery, Redfern and in April 2007: studio 16.1 at Mary Place Gallery, Paddington.

Garry Woods works and lives in Sydney, Australia.
