The Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust Selects ComOps Best Practice Risk Management Platform

Announcement posted by ComOps 02 Aug 2011

Sydney,  2 August 2011 – ComOps, a leading Australian provider of business software products and services, has won a contract to deploy its Salvus safety, risk and claims management software solution at the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust (MOPT), Australia’s premier sports and entertainment precinct.

Salvus will replace MOPT’s existing manual Excel spreadsheet, database and paper-based system for recording workplace incidents and hazards. Designed around applicable safety, risk, quality and compliance standards Salvus is an easy to use and completely scalable modular product that can be easily configured for public and private sector organisation workforce management.

MOPT selected Salvus based on its functionality, ease of use and all-in-one features for reporting as well as technical capabilities for analytics which will result in improved overall safety performance.

“We wanted an enterprise-wise solution with a web interface which could segregate users, enabling some staff to simply report incidents while providing others with features to generate analytics for better business planning.  Not all our users require full functionality.  For example, our casual contractors only need to report and log incidents.  Only Salvus was able to provide this level of acute flexibility in one comprehensive package while supporting our requirement to report on incidents and claims, and ultimately escalate matters in real time,” says Kay Stock, IT Manager, MOPT.

Once fully deployed, Salvus will be branded in-house as MOPT’s Precinct Activity Logging and Tracking System. It will help MOPT to record and report hazards, incidents and claims as well as audit and analyse risk as part of a long-term strategy.  A large task, when you need to mitigate risk for all visitors, 120 full-time employees and a diverse workforce of up to 2,000 casual staff recruited for peak events.  An additional casual user license fee provides MOPT with the flexibility to scale up for its busiest time of the year during the Australian Open.

By utilising the natural database structure and characteristics of Salvus, MOPT will be able to adapt Salvus to not only capture safety incidents but also log work orders and maintenance.  This will help streamline associated work orders and maintenance activities across the whole precinct.

“We are a public site and public safety is our number one priority.  Salvus will support this priority by reinforcing our OHS strategy and supporting our diverse workforce.  It will help support the organisation’s vision of being recognised among the world’s best and most successful sport and entertainment precinct.  However, ultimately, our strategy is about risk prevention and Salvus will help drive a safer work and precinct environment.  We’ll be able to take corrective action quickly armed with greater visibility,” says Stock.

Home to the Australian Open tennis tournament and facilities such as the Rod Laver and Hisense arena, AAMI Park, and Olympic Park Stadium, MOPT’s occupational, health and safety strategy sets out to provide and maintain an environment that is safe for employees, contractors, promoters, users, tenants, and patrons.

Salvus will be fully operational by late November 2011 in time for the summer events season at MOPT.
