Broadband comes in new colours

Announcement posted by Netspace 03 May 2004

National broadband ISP, Netspace, is setting the pace in broadband innovation by entering into an agreement with broadband equipment specialist, NetComm, to supply customised broadband modems. In a deal that is believed to be an industry first, NetComm will add the Netspace brand and dynamic red livery to NetComm's Ethernet NB1300+4 ADSL modem.
"Netspace is continually looking for ways to drive the broadband market forward. We see this deal as an important step to clearly differentiate Netspace from other broadband providers and marks a new direction in broadband marketing," said Netspace's managing director, Stuart Marburg.
"In a market that has become very competitive and with broadband becoming more like a commodity and heavily price driven, branded modems will allow for real physical identification between the customer and the company, and clearly identifies the customer to their friends and family as a Netspace customer."
Mr Marburg adds: "People are also starting to look for interesting accessories for their computers and a red modem just adds something new and different to the standard grey and black modems."
NetComm has been Netspace's exclusive supplier of modems, wireless networking and network cards since September 2003 in an agreement worth an estimated $2 million annually.
Mark Jones, sales and marketing director at NetComm says: "This partnership between NetComm and Netspace marks the beginning of an important new trend in the Australian communications marketplace whereby carriers and equipment providers work more closely to deliver complete solutions to their customers."
"In communications the simplest design is usually the best, which is why it makes sense for ADSL customers to have one solution and one brand."
The NetComm/Netspace ADSL modem features a sleek compact design with eye-catching red casing. Under the hood, independent tests reveal industry-best performance while unique built-in configuration tools make this product a cinch to get started. In contrast to other broadband providers, Netspace has deliberately moved away from offering single port USB modems in favour of a 4-port Ethernet modem, recognising the future needs of customers for home networking and convergence.
The NetComm/Netspace NB1300+4 ADSL modem is now available and will be supplied as standard equipment to all new Netspace broadband customers.
