Kid’s car seats cause dermatitis

Announcement posted by It's My Health 04 Oct 2011

According to consumer health information site www.itsmyhealth.com.au doctors say they’ve have discovered a new type of contact dermatitis that affects infants.

According to a US study, dermatologists believe the dermatitis is caused by a contact with type of shiny nylon-like material which is used in certain infant car seats.

In warmer weather, like we’re heading into now with Summer on the way, the rates of this type of dermatitis rise as the child’s skin comes into contact with the material.

Parents noticing a rash behind the legs or on the elbows should get it checked out by a GP.
