PeopleSoft Ships Next Generation Enterprise Portal

Unique Portal Technology Outpaces the Competition
PeopleSoft has raised the bar for enterprise portal solutions by announcing the availability of its next generation Enterprise Portal. The portal offers unique functionality including Intelligent Context Manager and Web Services integration, capabilities unequalled in the enterprise portal industry today.
"Leading portal framework vendors must provide a broad view of integration to demonstrate they can embrace a wide variety of applications and content sources," said David Yockelson, executive vice president and service director, META Group. Intelligent Context Manager proactively prompts users with relevant information when they initiate transactions within the portal. Information is automatically displayed enabling users to intelligently navigate through the business process. For example, using a traditional portal approach, an accounts payable officer would see that a customer is overdue on a payment. They would then typically send the account to a collections department or agency - never knowing there is a large sales opportunity in the pipeline. With Intelligent Context Manager, the accounts payable person is directly notified of the sales opportunity at the same time they are accessing the receivables information.
As the only vendor utilising Web Services standards as its primary integration method, PeopleSoft's Enterprise Portal enables customers to directly syndicate Web Services content into the portal. This reduces the ongoing cost of programming and maintenance, and dramatically lowers the total cost of ownership.
