New website empowers Australian employees

Announcement posted by Jobinsider.com.au 19 Oct 2011

Work. Love it or hate it, it’s time to rate it with JobInsider.com.au
Sydney, Australia, 12th October 2011 –
JobInsider.com.au aims to give Australians the employment edge with the launch of its new user review website, JobInsider.com.au.
Currently in beta phase, the site allows current and past employees to anonymously review key employer criteria including corporate culture, salary and work hours.

Potential employees can then visit the site to research prospective employers and find an honest, candid assessment of working life within a particular company or organisation.

According to a recent survey by CareerOne.com.au*, the majority of employees rated their managers as either "horrible" or "average” while only 36 per cent of respondents rated their current boss as "good’.

Everyone wants a boss that falls in the ‘good’ group of managers but how can you determine this before joining a new company?

“In today’s connected world, people regularly jump online to read reviews and try to find out everything there is to know about a product, restaurant, film, etc. before they commit any time or money,” explained Jo Yates, JobInsider.com.au co-founder. “We found it strange that we were unable to easily find sites for reviewing Australian workplaces, especially considering roughly half of our waking hours are spent at work. A job is a huge commitment and currently Australians are going in blind”.

It is customary for potential employers to check employee references before extending a job offer, and yet there is little a candidate can do to check employer references or really understand what it is like to work there. Until now.

The founders of JobInsider.com.au believe the best insight into a company comes from current or previous employees, and they want to give all Australians access to this insider information.

A smart CEO knows the value of happy, satisfied and engaged employees. JobInsider.com.au lets companies review their own performance from their employees’ point of view. This allows them to gain valuable insights and the ability to address issues if necessary, which can lead to improved employee retention and a reduction in recruitment and training costs.

“While JobInsider.com.au is in beta phase, we are looking to the community to provide us with feedback on what they want to see on their site,” said Martyn Pot, co-founder and developer. “We really want to create a site that all employees feel a part of.”

The site is now live and can be found at JobInsider.com.au
