I WANNA PLAY JUMPS INTO THE SOCIAL MEDIA GAME

Announcement posted by I Wanna Play AUS 04 Nov 2011

How Social Technology Is Brining People & Sports Together
Online Sports Directory I Wanna Play is about to get very social with its user base, utilising the power of Social Media to reach its audience, help them connect with each other and clubs and celebrate the Australian iconic culture of Sport.

I Wanna Play, Australia’s first online sports directory, has been connecting sports lovers and players with their associated teams, junior leagues, clubs and high grade players for over 3 years now. The directory prides itself on being a one stop facility for anyone with a passion for sport to be able to easily connect to their chosen club and code and get involved in a healthy, fun, team lifestyle.

Now, I Wanna Play will be utilising Social Media Technology to bring people closer to their sports clubs, and allow sports club and associations to target their advertising to those most relevant to them – the people involved in their type of sport.

“Social Media is changing the world we live in. It’s rapidly evolving, and it is bringing people together in a more connected way. We have seen Social Media used for revolutions, news services and brand development” said I Wanna Play Director, Blake Miller. “Now it’s time to utilise this technology to bring benefits to people and clubs who want to avoid all the white noise, and only receive information that is relevant and specific to them”.

“Sports is such a big part of the Australian Culture. We are renowned for it globally, we live and breathe it, and is something that we get involved in at a very early stage in our lives” said Mr Miller. “Without it, we wouldn’t have developed strong mateship bonds between friends, intense passion for the teams we love and a sense of looking after each other, whilst working towards a common goal”

“Now it’s time to take all this, and make it digital. We share so much of our time online, we want to be able to capture the audience and bring them together with their favourite players, clubs and associations during their online time. Help make it more productive for them” continued Mr Miller.

I Wanna Play will be rolling out their Social Media strategy in time for Summer 2011, and will be seeking active involvement from sports community stakeholders. With photo and video competitions, plays of the week and targeted advertising services, I Wanna Play is looking forward to helping achieve keen sports fanatics connect, share and be more social online with their favourite sports.
