Anti-Wrinkle Treatments are Number One Choice for Australian Women

Survey Findings – Top Priorities for Cosmetic Medical Treatments in Australia

Fighting wrinkles is the top priority for Australian women when it comes to skincare treatments, according to a recent national survey. Participants selected anti-wrinkle products such as Botox and Dysport as their number one choice of treatment, followed by dermal fillers that plump out the skin, such as Collagen and Hyaluronan.

Of respondents from around the country, 64 percent prioritised anti-wrinkle treatments over the second most popular treatment, dermal fillers, chosen by 26 percent of survey participants in an October customer survey conducted by Renaissance Clinics, Australia’s only national cosmetic medical treatment group (www.renaissanceclinics.com.au).

Australian women and men who are choosing to include cosmetic medical treatments within their skincare routines and budgets are informed consumers, committed for the long-term, with 62.8 percent of recipients prioritising ongoing treatment and advice, rather than a one-off appointment as an experiment, or for a special occasion.

60.7 percent of participants said they are committed to two-four appointments, spread across a year, to achieve the results they are seeking from cosmetic medical procedures.

These preferences are among key findings from the survey. Asking for responses from both new and long-term patients within its database of more than 5,500 customers, Renaissance received responses from 790 of its skincare customers.

Renaissance founder Dr Albert Ho said that the survey confirmed the group’s anecdotal understanding that many Australian women, particularly heading into their 40s and beyond, wish to address both natural aging, and external factors such as skin damage caused by sun exposure in Australia’s harsh climate.

“Our survey confirmed that our largest demographic is women aged between 40-50, who comprise 35% of customers coming to us for cosmetic medical procedures,” said Dr Ho.

“The survey also showed us that for all age groups in this volatile global economy, patients are prepared to look after themselves and their skin, but price does matter as people are cutting back on discretionary spending and credit card usage in the global financial crisis; and living within their means while still looking after themselves.

“Our patients’ responses indicated that while they still want to look after their skin and looks as they grow older, they will also self-book online and lock in early bird pricing offers to keep costs down for their ongoing treatments. Many of our customers are informed consumers who are not just experimenting with cosmetic medical procedures, they have done their homework and know what they want,” he said.
