Veneziano's Chief Takes on Top Job at AASCA

Announcement posted by Harvest Ideas 28 Nov 2011

Veneziano Coffee CEO Craig Dickson was voted in as the new president of the AustralAsian Specialty Coffee Association (AASCA), taking over from Bill Comely, on the weekend at AASCA’s Annual General Meeting.

Craig, a staunch supporter and long serving member of the specialty coffee community brings a wealth of coffee IP to the organisation and was instrumental in securing the inaugural landmark event Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE), to be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on May 4 - 6, 2012. This significant event will firmly place Australia on the world coffee map.

Veneziano Coffee is committed to the Australian Specialty Coffee championships as a clear way of supporting and growing coffee knowledge in Australia, developing talented and high achieving staff, to the benefit of the industry, coffee farmers, client cafes and the coffee consumer.

Under the clear guidance of Craig and the string of successes over the years, Veneziano Coffee affirms it's position as Australia’s most awarded coffee company. Veneziano has grown at a comfortable pace to achieve presence in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, NSW and the ACT.

The appointment comes hot on the heels of yet another Veneziano success story, with last year's Queensland Barista Champion Jean Paul (JP) Sutton, placing third in the 2012 Queensland competition over the weekend, and his colleague Adrian Zucker picking up second place in Latte Art.

Both will vie for the Australian title, to be held at MICE under the auspices of AASCA, together with Veneziano’s Victorian champions Craig Simon (2012 Barista Champion and Cup Tasting Champion), Jen Marks (2012 Latte Art Champion), Erin Sampson and Veneziano’s newly appointed head barista of the soon to open First Pour Adelaide espresso bar and showroom, Mike Wells. Mike won second place as the 2012 South Australian Barista Champion and second place Latte Art Champion.

The prestigious event is a prelude to the World Barista Championship, to be held in Vienna June, 2012.
