Brain Resource appoints CEO for US operations

The Board of Brain Resource (ASX: BRC) has approved the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer for its US operations.

Gregory A. Bayer, Ph.D. will head Brain Resource out of the company’s San Francisco Office.

Previously, Greg Bayer served as chief executive officer of OptumHealth Behavioural Solution, a subsidiary of United Health Group. He led a team responsible for managing behavioural health, wellness and employee assistance programs that served approximately 43 million members.

Under his leadership, OptumHealth doubled its revenue to $2 billion per annum, entered new markets and achieved a leading market position both domestically and internationally.

Prior to joining OptumHealth, Bayer served as executive vice president for Magellan Health Services and president of the Employer Division. He also held the position of senior vice president of clinical and network operations at Human Affairs International, a division of Aetna.

Bayer earned his B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Counselling from Miami University in Ohio. He received his Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from Ball State University in Indiana.

A frequent speaker and author on a variety of employee benefit and behavioural health related topics, Bayer has assisted Fortune 500 companies and health plans in designing and delivering behavioural health programs that are cost effective and integrated with wellness and medical benefits. He is also active in the community, serving as co-chair of Contra Costa Interfaith Housing, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness through permanent, affordable housing and supportive programming.
