LEGATO Systems Achieves Successful Interoperability In IBMS TotalStorage Proven Program

Announcement posted by Legato Systems Inc. 15 Aug 2002

LEGATO NetWorker is the only information protection offering from an external ISV to achieve the highest level of interoperability with all IBM Ultrium LTO products
LEGATO Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: LGTO), a worldwide leader in enterprise content and storage management software, announced today that LEGATO NetWorker and DiskXtender 2000 have successfully completed interoperability testing, earning IBM TotalStorage Proven status. The IBM TotalStorage Proven program builds on IBMs already extensive interoperability efforts to develop and deliver products and solutions that work with third party products.
IBM is pleased to acknowledge LEGATOs successful completion of the interoperability testing. Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who qualify for IBM TotalStorage Proven status, such as LEGATO has done, experience increased visibility of their solutions with the IBM Business Partners and IBM sales field, said Kathleen Smith, vice president, storage solutions, for IBMs Storage Systems Group. Ultimately these LEGATO solutions will receive greater visibility with customers who are looking for smoother, reliable implementations which can lead to reduced sales cycles and increased customer satisfaction.
NetWorker achieved approval at the Comprehensive Level of the TotalStorage Proven program for all IBMs Ultrium LTO products and is the only software solution from an external ISV to achieve this distinction. This is the highest level of approval in the program. In addition to the install, configuration, load, exercise I/O and backup/restore testing done at the Standard Level of testing, the Comprehensive Level also includes integration and failover testing.
With support for virtually all leading hardware and storage media, DiskXtender 2000 achieved approval at the Standard Level of the TotalStorage Proven program. DiskXtender 2000 provides storage consolidation from distributed application servers to centralized, aggregated IBM NAS systems. The solution reduces the cost of data management by offloading data from distributed servers, while still providing both users and applications transparent access to critical information quickly and efficiently, regardless of network architecture.
Interoperability is ultimately about increasing customer satisfaction by providing the customer with pre-tested solutions on IBMs storage technology, said Bill Riley, vice president, IBM Business Unit. Our participation in this program signifies that LEGATO and IBM are partners dedicated to working together to increase customer satisfaction through greater interoperability."
The IBM TotalStorage Proven program supports the ability of ISVs to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage platforms, as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building blocks have already been pre-tested.
