Announcement posted by HomeScreen Entertainment 06 Nov 2003
Australian entertainment company, HomeScreen Entertainment, has launched a new internet-based home entertainment service, HomeScreen (http://www.homescreen.com.au) and has announced a major strategic partnership with movie giant Hoyts.
The agreement will see Hoyts Group invest in the company and allow HomeScreen to benefit from the film industry knowledge and relationships of the Hoyts Group as well as marketing HomeScreen to Hoyts customers.
This will complement the HomeScreen teams experience in offering Australian consumers an easy, convenient and deeply-personalised entertainment service via the Internet.
"Hoyts is a clear leader in the film and cinema business in Australia and New Zealand," said Tony Faure, CEO of HomeScreen Entertainment.
Their decision to invest in HomeScreen Entertainment provides us with the industry experience, brand and relationships to complement our expertise in building great online brands and services. This combination will allow us to take a leadership position in what will be one of the fastest-growing segments of the entertainment market," Mr Faure said.
Paul Johnson, CEO of Hoyts Group, said home entertainment was a natural extension of Hoyts' existing businesses in film and cinema.
Hoyts is keen to build a position in the home movie market to add to our strength in the cinema market. Online DVD rental is a rapidly growing sector in the US and we believe that there is a great opportunity to replicate this opportunity in Australia. The experience of the HomeScreen team and their progress to date make us confident that, together, we will have a winning partnership," Mr Johnson said.
