Darcy sand control system ready for business

Announcement posted by Darcy Technologies 14 Mar 2012

Company completes successful System Integrity Test sub 1000ft into variable wellbore

Darcy Technologies has announced the completion of the first downhole installation of its next generation sand control system following the success of a robust system integrity test in Aberdeen, which was supported by several global operators and an international oilfield service company.

Darcy’s Unique Sand Control Screen was run from a land rig integrating it with standard third-party completion accessories to make up the full sand face completion system. The system was placed on depth and set into a variable wellbore some 1,000ft below the surface.

All components utilised in the well performed flawlessly during the installation, subsequently verified with the entire system recovery to surface.

Mark Presslie, business development manager at Darcy, said: “Our system is now available to run in wells around in the world following a two-year development phase.”

The Darcy system simplicity challenges gravel packing methods, while extending the application capability of stand-alone screens.

Its robustconstruction and high collapse resistance provides a life-of-well solution even in the most challenging environments including low pressure, shallow and heavy oil reservoirs as well as injection or gas storage wells and brownfield projects.

The system’s activation by applying pressure from surface eliminates the time, effort and cost of gravel pack completions while providing a robust and effective sand control completion.

The solution can be easily utilised in remote or environmentally sensitive locations as gravel pack fluids, pumping equipment, installation tooling, and excess personnel are eliminated from the process and its modular design is easily integrated with commonly-run completion equipment.

Steve Bruce, chief executive at Darcy, said: “Bringing new technology to the market can be a challenging process, however, the support and encouragement we have received from global companies has been greatly appreciated. We are now ready for business.”

Darcy will be holding an open day on the 19th of March for the global operators and oilfield service companies that continue to support the product.

Darcy will also be exhibiting at the 5th European Sand Management Forum at the Aberdeen and Exhibition Centre. The company will have a stand at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ event on March 21 & 22.

Darcy is based at Kintore, just outside Aberdeen, United Kingdom. For further information about Darcy visit www.darcyflow.com, or email business development manager Mark Presslie mark.presslie@darcyflow.com
